Need to run more and/or more powerful servos, on board lighting, gyros or indeed anything that demands more current than the BEC in your ESC can handle? Then you need a UBEC. All ESCs with a built in BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) have limits on the number of items other than the motor that they can support. Go above 3s and you can support a maximum of 3 servos at the most. The solution is to use an OPTO ESC and a separate receiver battery. This works fine for many people but adds the extra complication and weight of an extra battery. This is where a UBEC comes in. With a UBEC fitted you don't need the extra complication of a separate receiver battery, the UBEC handles all the current loads of your flight system. So now you can run more servos, take advantage of digital servos (which generally have a higher current drain) and where your systems permits run at 6v so you can take advantage of the higher torque and speed most servos can achieve at this higher voltage. What's more a UBEC can not only be used with OPTO ESC's but indeed with any BEC ESC by simply removing the +ve wire from the BEC to RX lead (see instructions). These Henge units are some of the best available. Features and Specifications |
